Rhino Cruise Ship operates in the Narayani River

The River cruise operator Rhino Water Entertainment Private Ltd from Chitwan has become the first company in Nepal to run a Riverboat cruise inside the country in the Narayani River. The company was established to bring water-based tourism activities to the nation. After the completion of major construction works, the company performed a successful test drive of the cruise ship on the Narayani River in December 2019.
According to the tour operator, this riverboat has a capacity of 200 tourists at a time and started its full-fledged operation in January 2020, which coincides with the start of Visit Nepal year 2020. The company has very good support from the local community and has an agreement with the community forest for 20 years to operate the boat and port. As reported by the Himalayan Times, a national daily, the cost of cruise construction and operation had reached up to Rupees 35,000,000. According to Chandra Kandel the executive director of Rhino Water Entertainment Private Limited, A 2-year feasibility study was completed before starting the construction process.

This 100ft * 25ft river cruise is a two-storied boat, where the engine is located in a one-horned shape like a head. The upper story is an open platform to enjoy the beautiful view of the bank of river Narayani.  The ship has its restaurant inside. This cruise operated in Narayani River is solely for tourism proposals and there are 3 shifts featuring breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the passengers. The ship can be best used to celebrate birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and other family engagements and gatherings. Furthermore, it has a meeting hall which can hold meetings and seminars inside. It also has stage for cultural programs and events. The cruise has adopted Norwegian technology and was constructed with the help of Indian technicians.

Destinations

Regarding the travel shifts, In the West direction, the cruise has regular operation sail from Kavreghat to Golaghat and in the North up to the Devghat, which is a holy site for Hindus. Further, the company is looking forward to extending its operation to up to Muglin.

 

No doubt the first-ever cruise of this type in Nepal is attracting visitors to the Chitwan District and is helping to boost the local economy by providing one of the most attractive travel facilities and activities- a Riverboat cruise. This is indeed a new practice in the history of Nepalese tourism Industry.
