Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha (Pic little things travel) |
Maya Devi temple
The Maya Devi temple is one of the significant attractions of Lumbini. This temple ensures the accurate spot of Buddha's birth to this world, represented by a marker stone. The nearby Bodhi tree is evidently the tree where Maya Devi rested in the shade while she was traveling. It was there that she gave birth to Gautam Buddha and took a holy bath in the adjacent pond, which is accepted to be where Buddha took his first bath as well.
Ashokan Pillar
It is understood that this pillar was constructed during 249 BC when Emperor Ashoka of India visited the then-prospering town of Lumbini. He fabricated four stupas and a pillar with a horse idol at the top and an engraving that depicts his visit and the significance of Lumbini as the birthplace of Lord Buddha. This pillar holds historical importance and it is viewed as one of the significant attractions of Lumbini.
Myanmar Golden temple
One of the most established structures on the premises with three halls corridors is the Myanmar golden temple. Directly inside the temple premises is the Lokamani Pula pagoda, another Burmese style pagoda that looks like the Shwe-dagon pagoda of Yangon.
World peace pagoda
This pagoda was constructed by the Japanese at the expense of US $ 1 million, simply outside the principal region. It is one of the emerging attractions of Lumbini. The pagoda has the statue of Lord Buddha in the position he took when he was born. It is a sparkling white structure with a golden statue.
Lumbini Museum
Lumbini Museum on the northern end of the area is committed to the life of Gautam Buddha and preserves the photographs and antiques from Buddhist regions across the world.
Royal Thai Buddhist monastery
Near the north end of the lake, this staggering and imposing wat (Thai-style monastery) is established from shining white marble.
Cambodian monastery
With solid contacts of Angkor Wat, this beautiful temple constructed in 2018 is now a standout amongst the most entrancing temple in Lumbini. The temple is encompassed by a square railing finished off by four 50m green snakes whose tails weave at the corners. The compound itself has a tremendous external divider finished with mind-boggling structures.
Zhong Hua Chinese Buddhist monastery
